Up to 17 dead in Somali bomb and hostage attack

Up to 17 individuals have been murdered and others are being held prisoner after an auto bomb assault in Somalia's capital Mogadishu.

A suicide plane slammed his auto into the entryway of the Posh Treats Hotel before shooters acting like fighters raged the Pizza House eatery nearby.

The activists took prisoners in the eatery.

Two of the shooters have been shot dead by security powers and 10 prisoners have been safeguarded, including Asians, Kenyans and Ethiopians.

Commander Mohamed Hussein said substantial gunfire could be heard at the scene.

Fanatic gathering al-Shabaab has said it is behind the assault.
